October to July, 2012 -2014
Client: Museum of natural history of Chile
Project: There were two projects related to the creation of replicas of bone pieces and archaeological objects for exhibition to the public. The main one was the restoration of the museum's central piece, a borealis whale and a replica of a Gonphotherium skull for its itinerant exhibition in different cities.
To this end, I researched new materials in accordance with museum conservation and restoration protocols, implemented new material technologies in the area of bone restoration and improved the quality of the replicas through the use of casting moulds.                                         As a major success, we increased the chromatic durability of the replicas by substituting artificial pigments for natural ones.
You can see the process of the whale in summary here or in parts phase1 phase2 and phase3
